In journalism, a scoop or exclusive is an item of news reported by one journalist or news organization before others, and of exceptional originality, importance, surprise, excitement, or secrecy. Scoops are important and likely to interest or concern many people.

To scoop someone is to get the news story before they do. Officially it means, a piece of news published by a newspaper or broadcast by a television or radio station before its rivals.  People use it in many ways nowadays, including to mean that they have the latest gossip, or got something before everyone else.

Sony signed a binding 10-year deal with Microsoft to keep the best-selling Call of Duty series available on PlayStation.

One of the concerns was the possibility that Call of Duty would not come out on PlayStation consoles, but Microsoft has guaranteed that the franchise will continue to be multiplatform. There will also be no exclusive content for Xbox, as confirmed by Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division.
