Franz Anton Beckenbauer (German pronunciation: [fants anton b[kn)baP]; born 11 September 1945) is a German former professional football player and manager. Nicknamed "Der Kaiser" ( lit. 'The Emperor'), he is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
